The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.

In his statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasised the significance of Eid-el-Fitr as a time for self-discipline, compassion, generosity, and peace.

He encouraged Muslims to uphold these virtues beyond Ramadan, stressing that love, forgiveness, and unity are essential for building a stronger and more harmonious society.

Beyond the festivities, the Minister called on Nigerians to use the occasion as a moment of reflection and prayer for the peace, stability, and prosperity of the nation.

He expressed optimism that the spirit of Eid would foster cooperation and understanding across religious and ethnic divides, reinforcing national unity.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also urged Nigerians to celebrate safely and responsibly while remembering the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity.

He noted that the essence of Ramadan and Eid-el-Fitr lies in sharing and supporting one another, especially those in need.

On behalf of the Federal Government, he conveyed heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful and prayed that the blessings of the season bring happiness, success, and fulfilment to all Nigerians.
