The Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to boost youth participation in its recruitment process, conducting a sensitisation visit in Ondo State ahead of the 91 Regular Intake exercise, with a strong call for eligible youths to take advantage of career opportunities in the military.

The outreach programme, held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, brought together key stakeholders including local government chairmen, traditional rulers and youth leaders from across the state.

Speaking at the event, the Army Headquarters team leader, Brigadier General Peter Oyegoke, said the initiative was designed to educate young people on the recruitment process, eligibility criteria and the broader significance of joining the Nigerian Army.

He noted that the exercise is part of a nationwide campaign to ensure that qualified Nigerians are adequately informed and encouraged to participate.

According to him, beyond offering employment, the recruitment provides a pathway for youths to build meaningful careers while contributing to national security and development.

He emphasised that discipline, patriotism and dedication remain core values expected of prospective recruits.

Representing the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet and Special Services Department, Mr Adeyemi Adeyemo, commended the Nigerian Army for bringing the sensitisation exercise to the state.

He urged youths in Ondo to seize the opportunity presented by the recruitment drive, describing it as a viable platform for personal development and service to the nation.

A major highlight of the event was a detailed presentation by Brigadier General Oyegoke, who outlined the stages of the recruitment process, including application procedures, screening requirements and the benefits attached to a career in the Army.

The session, which was interactive, also addressed questions from participants, further clarifying concerns about enlistment.

The event formed part of activities leading to the 91 Regular Intake Recruitment Exercise, as the Army continues its nationwide campaign to attract competent and qualified candidates into its ranks.
