The Ondo State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) has held its inaugural meeting in Akure, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa hosting senior All Progressives Congress (APC) figures to discuss governance and party unity.

The GAC, chaired by former NNPC Limited Board Chairman and ex-APC National Vice Chairman, Chief Pius Akinyelure, is tasked with providing strategic advice to the Governor on state development and strengthening the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, APC National Vice Chairman (South West) and former Secretary to the State Government, serves as Secretary.

Saturday’s closed-door session, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, brought together party elders including  Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, former APC National Vice Chairman (Southwest) Pastor Bankole Oluwajana, and other prominent leaders.

Discussions centred on governance achievements, political strategy, and bridging the gap between government and party structures.

Chief Akinyelure described the meeting as “fruitful and encouraging,” noting that it aimed to ensure “smooth relations between the party and government” while boosting the APC’s prospects.

Pastor Oluwajana praised the Governor’s “inclusive and unifying approach,” while Prof. Boroffice highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s record of prompt salary payments, debt reduction, and fiscal prudence.

According to Hon. Kekemeke, the council reaffirmed the Governor’s leadership of the party in Ondo State, resolved lingering issues, and emphasised that support groups must work under the party’s umbrella, not as rivals.

Other attendees included former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, General Funso Oyenehin (rtd), Ambassador Sola Iji, Chief Bode Sunmonu, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Dr. Ayodeji Oyedele, and Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti.

The meeting comes a week after the Governor convened the party’s caucus and ahead of a wider stakeholders’ gathering, signalling a fresh drive to align government and party interests before the next election cycle.
