The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the recent announcement by Omoluabi Progressives, a faction loyal to former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, stating that their departure from the party is inconsequential since they effectively left three years ago.
In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC described the group’s decision as “good riddance to bad rubbish,” arguing that most of its members had either been expelled or suspended long before now.
“How can a rational person who has already been suspended or expelled announce their resignation again? It’s an exercise in futility,” Olabisi stated, branding the defectors as “political vagabonds” who have long been working against the party’s interests.
He accused the Omoluabi Progressives of being covert agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, suggesting that their latest move was merely a formalisation of their long-standing betrayal.
“You cannot claim to be in our party while actively undermining it. We have always known that the hand is that of Jacob, but the voice is that of Esau. We are prepared for the antics of these political renegades,” Olabisi asserted.
The APC spokesman also mocked the group’s self-proclaimed progressive ideology, arguing that they had shown no respect for party elders or benefactors.
He dismissed them as “frustrated and expired politicians” whose repeated attempts to hijack the party had failed.
“The announcement of your new political adventure is simply the beginning of your political funeral, which will culminate in your final burial come the 2026 governorship election,” he declared.
Olabisi further warned the group’s followers that they would soon regret their decision, insisting that the APC in Osun was growing stronger each day.
In a final jab, he offered a parting message to Aregbesola’s loyalists: “Whoever wishes to bury his elder brother naked should remember that his younger brother is watching, so he too will know how his own burial will be conducted at the end of his journey.”
