An assurance was given in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Thursday, that ailing Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will soon be back in the state.
This assurance was given by youth leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Southwest zone.
Speaking during a press conference in Akure, the zonal youth leader of APC, Lawal Kolade, lambasted the Ondo state chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for calling for the resignation or impeachment of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, due to his ill health.
The youth leader also chided the PDP youths over the ultimatum issued over Akeredolu’s absence, saying the party has been playing politics with Akeredolu’s health and absence in the state.
Kolade was of the opinion that PDP is merely fighting for survival and trying to remain relevant in the state’s political circle, using Akeredolu’s health challenge as springboard.
The APC Youth leader who said the PDP youths have the right to query the absence of Akeredolu in the state, however assured the people of the state that the governor will return to Akure in no distant time and reunite with the people of the state.
While appreciating the people of the state for their love and prayers for Governor Akeredolu, he noted that it is illogical for the state chapter of the PDP to be calling for his resignation or impeachment by the state House of Assembly.
He pointed out that the absence of Akeredolu in the state has not affected governance, and appealed to the people of the Sunshine state to exercise little patience as Akeredolu would come to the state in few days time.
He stated that the decision of Akeredolu to seek rest and adjust to normal work schedule in Ibadan, is to allow him fully recover, saying “this is a testament to his human nature, reminding us that even leaders are not exempted from the trials of flesh and blood. We are optimistic that he (Akeredolu) will soon make a complete recovery and physically join us”
