Operatives of the South-West Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps in Osun state have arrested five men for different offences ranging from stealing of vehicle, motorcycle and vehicle engines.
Our correspondent gathered that the suspects were arrested at different locations in the state.
They were nabbed at different locations during a routine patrol and surveillance by men of the corps.
According to reports, Olatinwo Koyum Sunday (18), and Muideen Usman (19), were arrested for motorcycle theft in Apomu, Isokan Local Government area of Osun state.
They were alleged of stealing a neighbour’s Bajaj motorcycle which they reportedly sold to one Bokoto at Ogunpa in Ibadan, Oyo state at the sum of #15,000 after a complaint was lodged at Amotekun Isokan office.
Also, Gbenga Adewale (45), and Kehinde Adeoti (51), were arrested for attempting to steal a vehicle engine in Osogbo on Monday night before they were apprehended.
The fifth suspect, Sodiq Afolabi was nabbed for attempting to steal a vehicle in Ikirun, Ifelodun local government area of the state.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo, the Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, said some of the suspects were arrested at different locations in the state by Amotekun operatives after a complaint was lodged at the Isokan office.
He revealed that the other suspects were arrested by Amotekun operatives on a night patrol while attempting to steal a vehicle engine in Osogbo, and Sodiq was arrested for attempting to steal a vehicle in Ikirun.
He disclosed that: “During interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime.
The suspects will be handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.”
