The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged voters in Ekiti State to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the party in the 2027 general elections, citing the administration’s reforms and development programmes as reasons for another term.
Yilwatda made the appeal on Thursday at the APC presidential campaign rally held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, where he joined Vice-President Kashim Shettima, members of the party’s National Working Committee, governors and other chieftains to present the party’s candidates to the electorate.
The APC chairman expressed satisfaction with the turnout at the rally, describing the reception as an indication of the party’s support base in the state.
He said the gathering provided an opportunity to introduce the party’s candidates, from President Tinubu to those seeking election into the National Assembly and Ekiti State House of Assembly, while urging voters to give the APC a clear mandate at all levels.
Yilwatda described Tinubu as a performer and reformer, arguing that the administration’s policies were aimed at rebuilding the economy, strengthening public institutions and creating opportunities for individuals and businesses.
He particularly defended the President’s tax reforms, saying the new framework was designed to protect low-income earners and small businesses from excessive tax obligations while allowing them to retain more resources for personal and business growth.
According to him, the reforms are intended to establish a fairer tax system in which the burden does not fall disproportionately on those with limited financial capacity.
The APC chairman also highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as an intervention to widen access to tertiary education and prevent financial difficulties from denying qualified students the opportunity to pursue their academic ambitions.
He noted that eligible beneficiaries also receive a monthly upkeep allowance of ₦20,000 to assist with their living expenses while studying.
On infrastructure, Yilwatda cited road projects in Ekiti State, particularly major connections between Ado-Ekiti and Akure, as evidence of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve transportation, stimulate economic activities and facilitate development.
He maintained that the administration’s development agenda was reflected not only in policy announcements but also in projects and interventions intended to improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
Presenting Tinubu to the people of Ekiti for another term, the APC chairman urged them to vote for the party’s candidates across all elective positions, arguing that having elected representatives from the same political platform would help sustain the administration’s policies and development agenda.
He specifically appealed for APC victories in the National Assembly and State House of Assembly elections, saying a strong legislative presence would help the party advance its programmes.
Yilwatda also described the APC as a party with an extensive national structure, expressing confidence in its prospects in the 2027 elections.
He called on party members, supporters and stakeholders in Ekiti to remain united and intensify mobilisation at the grassroots to secure victory for all APC candidates.
