The Headquarters of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Owena Cantonment, Akure, Ondo State, has witnessed a change of command with Brigadier General Jibril Garba assuming office as the 15th Commander of the Brigade.
The change of baton ceremony, held on Thursday in line with military tradition, marked the end of the tenure of Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, who formally handed over the command of the brigade to his successor.
In his farewell address, Brig.-Gen. Ifeanyi expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for the confidence reposed in him to lead the brigade.
He said the opportunity enabled him to contribute meaningfully to national security and the development of the Nigerian Army.
The outgoing commander also commended officers and soldiers of the brigade for their loyalty, discipline, resilience and dedication throughout his tour of duty, noting that their collective commitment resulted in significant operational and administrative achievements.
He urged the personnel to extend the same cooperation and support to the new commander to ensure continuity in the brigade’s operations.
Brig.-Gen. Ifeanyi stressed that discipline remains the foundation of military professionalism and charged officers and soldiers to sustain and improve on the existing standards.
He also cautioned personnel against the misuse of social media, reminding them to strictly adhere to the Nigerian Army Social Media Policy at all times.
The outgoing commander further urged troops to remain worthy ambassadors of both the 32 Artillery Brigade and the Nigerian Army.
Highlights of the ceremony included the signing of handing-over and taking-over documents, the transfer of the command flag, the lowering and hoisting of the command flag at the Quarter Guard, group photographs and the farewell address to troops.
