APC Chairman, Uzodimma rally diaspora members behind Tinubu, Renewed Hope agenda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, have called for greater unity among APC members in the diaspora to strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The duo made the call during a Strategic Global Diaspora Conference organised by the Diaspora and Global Affairs Directorate of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.

Speaking at the virtual gathering, Prof. Yilwatda stressed the need for stronger collaboration among diaspora communities, effective communication of government policies and achievements, and the establishment of structured media teams to counter misinformation and project Nigeria’s positive image globally.

He also underscored the importance of diaspora participation in voter education, investment mobilisation and advocacy for the programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration.

Governor Uzodimma, who serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described the diaspora community as a critical stakeholder in the country’s political development.

According to him, unity and grassroots mobilisation among Nigerians abroad will be vital in sustaining support for the APC and ensuring victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, who is the Deputy Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, commended Abike Dabiri-Erewa for facilitating the engagement.

He described diaspora participation in the organisation’s activities as strategic and capable of strengthening grassroots mobilisation efforts in support of the President.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, advocated stronger collaboration between Nigerians in the diaspora and grassroots governance structures.

He highlighted the need to build an effective media network involving young Nigerians to showcase government achievements and counter misinformation.

The Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde, who also coordinates the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, highlighted some of the economic reforms and achievements of the Tinubu administration.

According to him, developments such as increased infrastructure investments, improved investor confidence and the implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) have positively impacted the country’s socio-economic landscape.

In her remarks, Hon. Dabiri-Erewa, who heads the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and serves as Director of the Diaspora Directorate, pledged continued engagement with APC members across the world.

She said efforts would be intensified to improve communication strategies and policy dissemination among Nigerians in the diaspora.

The APC Diaspora Coordinating Chairman, Tunde Doherty, and the Operational Director of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Tayo Shodeinde, described the conference as a strategic gathering of APC diaspora leaders and members from different parts of the world.

They said the meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination and enhancing support for future initiatives of the party.

Participants at the conference pledged their commitment to mobilising members and supporting programmes designed to advance the objectives of the APC and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The session, moderated by Mac Babafemi, focused on issues including diaspora unity, grassroots engagement, improved communication channels and the documentation of the achievements of the Tinubu administration for wider dissemination among Nigerians living abroad.

The virtual conference attracted more than 600 participants from Africa, the United Kingdom, North America, Canada, Europe and Australia, with organisers describing it as the first in a series of continuous global engagements with APC members in the diaspora.
