Relief returned to Isua Akoko in Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State following the successful rescue of a kidnap victim abducted by armed men along the Ifira–Isua Akoko Road.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred at about 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, when four armed men reportedly ambushed a Bajaj motorcycle conveying a young family along the Ifira/Isua Akoko axis.

During the attack, the rider, Jimoh Isah, 25, was forcefully abducted, while his wife, Esther Isah, 22, their young son and a physically challenged man were abandoned at the scene by the assailants.

Following a distress report to the Isua Divisional Police Headquarters, the Divisional Police Officer immediately mobilised police operatives in collaboration with non-state actors for a swift tactical response.

A joint security team was deployed to the area and embarked on an intensive bush-combing operation across surrounding forests, while also identifying and monitoring possible escape routes used by the kidnappers.

Police sources said sustained search efforts, intelligence-led pressure and coordinated security operations mounted by the joint team forced the suspects to abandon the victim.

Jimoh Isah was subsequently rescued unharmed and reunited with his family.

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the swift response and professionalism displayed by the operatives involved in the rescue operation, stressing that the Command would leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality in any part of the state.

He disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects involved in the crime.

The Commissioner reassured residents of Ondo State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property and urged members of the public to continue to support security agencies with credible and timely information to enhance public safety.
