The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has joined his ancestors at the age of 82.
A statement issued by his family on Saturday confirmed that the monarch passed away on Friday, lauding his “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.”
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi began his career as a teacher before joining the civil service, where he rose to become a senior official and later Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government.
He ascended the throne of Aramoko Ekiti in 2009.
The family recalled his tenure as Chancellor of Ekiti State University, during which he championed initiatives aimed at improving educational standards and expanding access for local students.
“As the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, he provided strong leadership that fostered community cohesion and development,” the statement noted, highlighting his contributions to cultural preservation, conflict resolution, and youth empowerment.
His legacy, the family added, will remain “a testament to his enduring service and love for his community.”
Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
