The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Saturday announced a donation of N15 million to support victims of the recent attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Yilwatda made this known when he visited the victims who are currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, to support their medical care and recovery.

The APC chairman, who was accompanied by his wife, Martina, described the attack as barbaric and unacceptable, stressing that the continued loss of innocent lives in the state must come to an end.

He said the visit was not only to sympathise with the victims and their families but also to reaffirm the commitment of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to restoring peace and ensuring the protection of lives and property across the country.

Speaking during the visit, the APC national chairman said the tragedy in Angwan Rukuba was a direct assault on shared humanity, adding that the time had come for stakeholders to move beyond routine condemnations and take deliberate, coordinated actions to prevent further violence.

He noted that no society could achieve meaningful progress where citizens live in fear and uncertainty.

According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda said the pain of the victims and their families must be borne collectively, insisting that the Federal Government remained resolute in strengthening security operations and stabilising affected communities, particularly in Plateau State.

He assured the victims that authorities were not relenting in efforts to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice, while reiterating that every Nigerian life must be valued and protected against criminality and terror.

He stated that the incident should serve as a wake-up call for leaders at all levels to rise above divisions and unite against forces threatening peace and coexistence.

Announcing the N15 million donation, Yilwatda said the funds were intended to ease the burden of medical expenses and provide relief for victims facing physical, emotional and financial challenges as a result of the attack.

He also extended condolences to families of those who lost their lives, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones.

The APC chairman commended the management and medical personnel of the Jos University Teaching Hospital for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the victims under difficult conditions.

As part of his visit, Yilwatda also paid a condolence call on the Ujah Anaguta, the paramount ruler of Jos North, over the attack on residents of Angwan Rukuba, urging traditional, political and religious leaders, as well as civil society groups, to work collectively to reject violence and promote unity.

He warned against normalising or politicising recurring attacks in the state, stressing that such incidents must trigger urgent and sustained security interventions, improved intelligence gathering and deeper community engagement to forestall further bloodshed.

Yilwatda maintained that Plateau State, given its diversity and strategic importance, must not be allowed to slide into cycles of violence and instability, assuring that the APC and the Federal Government were committed to restoring lasting peace and security in the state.

He emphasised that leadership must go beyond rhetoric in times of crisis, noting that showing up, standing with victims and taking practical steps remain essential in addressing human tragedies, even as he reiterated that the killing of innocent citizens must stop and peace must return fully to Plateau State.
