President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their goodwill messages and support as he marked his 74th birthday, reaffirming his administration’s resolve to overcome current challenges and deliver a more prosperous nation.

In a personally signed message released on the occasion, the President thanked citizens across the country for their prayers, patriotism and solidarity, describing their support as vital to the progress of his administration.

“I am filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity given me to serve this great nation,” Tinubu said, acknowledging individuals and groups who placed congratulatory messages in newspapers and paid for airtime on radio and television in his honour.

He also extended appreciation to the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her “kind and loving words,” and to Vice-President Kashim Shettima for his tribute.

The President noted that, in line with his longstanding tradition of observing his birthday in consideration of the national mood, he opted for a low-key celebration this year.

Reflecting on the state of the nation, Tinubu acknowledged the challenges that have accompanied his administration’s reform agenda but expressed optimism about the direction of the country.

“As I mark this special day, I am reminded of the challenges we have faced since we initiated our reforms. I am glad that our sacrifices have not been in vain, as we can see some glittering light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

He, however, pointed to the impact of the ongoing Middle East crisis on global economic conditions, noting that it had posed temporary setbacks.

Tinubu emphasised that the progress recorded so far was a collective achievement, crediting not only his administration but also Nigerians for their resilience and cooperation.

“The credit for the positive outcomes we have achieved does not belong solely to me or to our government. We achieved the gains together,” he stated.

Looking ahead to the third anniversary of his administration, the President expressed confidence that Nigeria would overcome its present challenges and build a brighter future.

“We are determined to confront the challenges we face today, and with your continued support, we shall overcome,” he said.

Tinubu called on Nigerians to remain united and committed to national development, urging collective efforts to build “a stronger, more prosperous and resilient nation” capable of taking its place as a leading force on the African continent.

The President concluded by thanking Nigerians once again for their goodwill and support as he celebrated his birthday.
