President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away on Friday in Cairo after a brief illness.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late matriarch as a woman of remarkable character who raised children and grandchildren that have made significant contributions to the nation.

Tinubu said he shared in the grief of the former governor, noting that the loss of a mother is a deeply painful experience.

“Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Hajiya Umma. As someone who has also experienced the loss of a mother, I understand the depth of your pain,” the President stated.

He added that while words may not fully ease the sorrow of such a loss, the memories of her life, values, and guidance should serve as a source of comfort to the bereaved family.

The President also prayed for strength for El-Rufai and his family during this period of mourning, urging them to take solace in the impactful life the deceased lived.

“As firm believers in Allah, we are convinced that she has fulfilled her purpose on earth and has returned to her Creator,” Tinubu said, offering prayers for the repose of her soul.

He further joined family members, friends and associates in mourning the deceased, praying that Almighty Allah grants her Aljannah Firdaus.

Hajiya Umma’s passing has drawn sympathies from political leaders and associates across the country, many of whom have paid tribute to her life and legacy.
