President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep condolences to former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
The President’s message was conveyed on Sunday by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who attended the Janazah prayer held for the deceased at the National Mosque, Abuja.
In a condolence message, Tinubu described the late Hajiya Hadiza as a woman of uncommon grace and character, noting that she served as a strong pillar of support to her husband throughout his years in public service, including his tenure as INEC chairman.
The President also commended her contributions to education and community development, acknowledging her role beyond the home as one that positively impacted society.
Tinubu, who said he received news of her passing with a heavy heart, sympathised with Jega and his family over what he described as a painful loss after over four decades of marriage.
He prayed for the repose of her soul, asking God to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and assured the bereaved family of his solidarity during the period of mourning.
