Succour came for the abducted choristers of Christ Apostolic Church, CAC, Oke Igan, Akure yesterday, as they regained their freedom after the payment of undisclosed sum as ransom.
It will be recalled that not less than 19 members of the church choir were abducted along Ifon-Benin road on their way to a funeral ceremony last Friday.
Out of the number, eight of them had escaped from their abductors on Saturday, less than 24 hours after they were kidnapped by the suspected gunmen.
The Nigerian Monitor reliably gathered that the freedom of the kidnap victims on Thursday night did not come without the payment of ransom running into millions of Naira.
A competent source revealed that the negotiating team of the church returned with the rest 11 victims at about 11:47pm to the premises of the church in Akure.
The kidnappers were reported to have demanded for N50 million as ransom before the choristers will be allowed to go back home, but the amount the church eventually paid to secure their release has been kept as a secret.
Meanwhile, the 11 choristers are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Akure, state capital.
