President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united and hopeful despite prevailing economic and security challenges, assuring that ongoing reforms and security efforts by his administration are beginning to yield positive results.

In his 2026 Easter message released on Friday, the President said the Christian celebration of Easter, which commemorates the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolises sacrifice, resilience and the triumph of light over darkness—values he noted are particularly relevant to Nigeria’s current situation.

Addressing Christians in Nigeria and across the world, Tinubu said the season offered a moment for reflection on the redemptive power of faith and the need for collective endurance as the country navigates a difficult phase marked by economic strain and insecurity.

He acknowledged that despite sustained efforts by his administration and the sacrifices of the nation’s armed forces, security challenges persist in parts of the country.

However, he assured that the Federal Government was intensifying efforts through increased resource allocation and international partnerships aimed at delivering decisive blows to terrorists and bandits.

The President recalled his recent visit to Jos in Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of violence, expressing confidence in assurances from security chiefs that progress is being made in tackling insecurity.

He added that Nigeria is also receiving support from foreign partners to strengthen its security architecture.

Tinubu expressed optimism that Nigerians recognise and appreciate the government’s efforts, while reiterating that national unity remains critical to overcoming the country’s challenges.

According to him, no nation can thrive in an atmosphere of fear, just as sustainable development cannot occur without peace.

He extended assurances to other parts of the country experiencing insecurity, stating that coordinated interventions were already producing measurable breakthroughs.

The President urged citizens to support lawful efforts of government, promote peaceful coexistence and reject divisive tendencies capable of undermining national stability.

He stressed that citizens must act as their brothers’ keepers in order to safeguard collective well-being.

On the economy, Tinubu said ongoing reforms, though demanding, were carefully designed to reposition the country for shared prosperity.

He maintained that meaningful transformation often requires sacrifice, noting that history supports the idea that enduring progress is achieved through difficult but necessary decisions.

Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, the President called for political maturity among parties and actors, urging strict adherence to the Electoral Act and a commitment to peaceful, issue-based engagement.

He emphasised that democracy thrives where responsibility, restraint and informed participation guide the actions of citizens and leaders alike.

Tinubu expressed confidence that economic indicators point to the right policy direction, assuring Nigerians that a better future lies ahead despite present hardships.

He thanked citizens for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain committed to delivering a more secure, prosperous and democratically stable nation.

He urged Nigerians to keep faith and continue contributing to national development in their respective capacities, as he wished Christians and all Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
