The Christian Association of Nigeria has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and united in the face of prevailing socio-economic and security challenges, expressing confidence that the country possesses the resilience to overcome its current difficulties.

President of CAN, Daniel Okoh, made the appeal in his Easter message issued on Sunday in Abuja, where he emphasised that the resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolises renewed hope and the possibility of recovery even after periods of hardship.

Okoh said Easter conveys the enduring message that “rising again is always possible,” noting that the season represents the return of hope when it appears lost and the emergence of new beginnings after trying times.

He acknowledged the difficulties faced by many Nigerians, saying families across the country are grappling with anxiety, insecurity and economic strain, with some struggling to sustain basic living standards.

Despite the situation, the cleric urged citizens not to lose faith, stressing that the current challenges do not define the nation’s future.

According to him, Nigerians have the capacity to rebuild and move forward collectively if they embrace unity and shared purpose.

The CAN president, however, challenged leaders at all levels to complement their promises with tangible actions, describing the present moment as a critical test of leadership.

He said citizens expect not just rhetoric but visible commitment, empathy and practical steps aimed at improving their living conditions.

Okoh also charged the Church to remain steadfast in its role as a source of support and guidance, urging religious institutions to provide direction and encouragement to those facing uncertainty.

He cautioned against allowing hardship to breed division, calling on Nigerians to resist forces seeking to destabilise the country by choosing unity over suspicion.

Okoh maintained that while difficult times can strain relationships, they also offer an opportunity for collective strength if citizens choose solidarity and mutual support.

He described Easter as more than a celebration, but a call to rise above differences, work together and confront the challenges hindering national progress.

The CAN president wished Nigerians a peaceful Easter and prayed for the continued unity, stability and advancement of the country.
