The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his 74th birthday, describing him as “the architect of a new Nigeria” whose leadership is reshaping the country’s democratic and economic trajectory.
In a statement issued on Sunday on behalf of the party’s National Working Committee, leaders, stakeholders and members across Nigeria and the diaspora, Yilwatda said the occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on Tinubu’s life of service, political courage and enduring contributions to national development.
He noted that the President’s journey in public life has been marked by “uncommon vision, resilience and strategic leadership,” adding that Tinubu has consistently prioritised national interest over personal considerations.
“From his days in the trenches of the democratic struggle to his stewardship as Governor of Lagos State, and now as President and Commander-in-Chief, he has remained a symbol of purposeful leadership and progressive governance,” Yilwatda said.
The APC chairman stated that Nigeria was witnessing a decisive phase of reform under Tinubu’s administration, noting that the President assumed office at a critical time and had demonstrated statesmanship by embarking on bold and far-reaching policy changes.
According to him, the administration’s reform programmes are designed to address structural challenges in the economy and lay a sustainable foundation for long-term growth, stability and inclusive development.
Yilwatda said the government had taken steps to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, strengthen fiscal discipline, boost revenue generation and deepen infrastructure development.
He added that reforms across critical sectors, including social investment, agriculture, industry and energy, were aimed at improving livelihoods, expanding opportunities and enhancing the ease of doing business.
The APC chairman acknowledged that the reforms had come with short-term challenges but insisted they were necessary for long-term national prosperity.
“Meaningful reform often comes with temporary discomfort, but we are convinced that the sacrifices of today will yield a stronger, more prosperous and more equitable Nigeria,” he said.
He further commended the administration’s focus on youth empowerment, digital innovation, local production and subnational collaboration, describing it as a comprehensive and forward-looking governance approach.
Yilwatda also highlighted efforts to strengthen national security and preserve unity, noting that the President’s leadership reflects firmness, clarity of purpose and political wisdom.
“As a party, the APC is proud of the bold reformist direction of this administration and the discipline, focus and patriotism with which President Tinubu is steering the ship of state,” he added.
Congratulating the President, the APC chairman said Tinubu’s leadership had continued to inspire confidence across the country and beyond, expressing hope that he would be granted the strength and wisdom to lead Nigeria to greater stability and prosperity.
“On this special occasion, we honour not just his age, but the depth of his service, the strength of his convictions and the historic significance of his leadership at this defining moment in our nation’s journey,” he added.
