A 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly beating his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, to death.
The unfortunate incident was said to have occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state, following a violent altercation between the duo.
The tragic incident, which has sparked concern among residents of the community, reportedly occurred on May 28, 2026, when a disagreement between the suspect and his father degenerated into a physical confrontation.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly assaulted his father during the altercation, inflicting severe injuries, particularly to the victim’s head.
The injured man was immediately rushed to a medical facility for treatment, but efforts by doctors to save his life proved unsuccessful as he was later confirmed dead while receiving medical attention.
The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged with the police by Daniel Moses, a son of the deceased and brother to the suspect.
Acting on the report, detectives commenced investigations and swiftly apprehended the suspect for questioning.
Confirming the development in a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation.
