The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has deployed 1,200 personnel and distributed operational kits across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration, even as the Nigeria Police Force has similarly intensified security operations.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Oluyemi Ibiloye, ordered the deployment through an operational directive issued to all formations and tactical units ahead of the festivities.

The deployment covers key areas including recreational centres, markets, motor parks, worship centres, and other critical national, state and local government assets.

Specialised units such as the Agro Rangers, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit and Disaster Management Unit have been strategically positioned in public spaces and flashpoints to deter criminal activities and ensure rapid response where necessary.

The Command also confirmed the distribution of operational gear, including body armour, helmets, raincoats, reflective jackets and other safety equipment to enhance operational efficiency.

Commandant Ibiloye charged officers and men to remain professional, vigilant and committed to duty while respecting citizens’ fundamental rights, stressing strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Rules of Engagement.

He also extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful, urging them to embrace love, peace and lawful conduct throughout the celebration.

In a related development, the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has deployed additional personnel across the state as part of proactive security measures.

The Police said officers have been strategically stationed at worship centres, highways, recreational facilities and other public places, with operations driven by intelligence to prevent crime and maintain order.

The deployment aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to strengthen security nationwide during the Easter period.

Specialised formations, including tactical teams, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal–CBRN Unit, the Police Mobile Force and intelligence units, have been mobilised for both overt and covert operations to address potential threats swiftly.

The Command reassured residents of adequate security coverage, urging them to go about their lawful activities without fear, while also encouraging vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious movements to security agencies.
