All roads lead to Lagos on May 1, 2025 as the Idogun Development Association (IDA) hosts its highly anticipated second National Convention, with a N50 million fundraising campaign at the heart of the event.

The gathering, which will be held at Finicky Restaurant Centres, Jibowu, Yaba, aims to galvanise support for the completion of a state-of-the-art e-library for the Idogun community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Organised under the leadership of Dr Thompson Aiyegunle, a seasoned Chartered Accountant and Chairman of the Planning Committee, the convention marks another milestone in the association’s commitment to grassroots-driven development.

The IDA, through its inclusive approach, has steadily positioned itself as a beacon of self-reliant progress among Nigerian communities.

According to Engr. Olatunji Ajibolade, President of IDA, the association was founded to bring together sons and daughters of Idogun both at home and in the diaspora for the sustainable development of their ancestral home.

In recent years, this mission has yielded impressive results, including the successful establishment of an ICT Centre equipped with a standby generator and run by a committed instructor.

This facility has provided invaluable digital training for students across Idogun and nearby communities.

In addition to its strides in digital literacy, the IDA has constructed a modern market square to enhance local commerce and initiated quarterly career talks in collaboration with accomplished academics such as Professor Alaba Gbadamosi, inspiring students to aspire to academic and professional excellence.

The upcoming e-library, once completed, is expected to become a major educational resource hub, opening up a world of learning for students across the region.

The association views this as a critical investment in the future of the community’s youth.

In a statement issued by the IDA’s Media Assistant and Secretary of the Convention Planning Committee, Mary Agidi, she reaffirmed the association’s call for support from all Idogun indigenes and well-wishers.

“This project is a collective dream. The e-library will redefine access to knowledge in our community and bridge educational gaps that have long existed. We are counting on everyone’s generosity to bring it to life,” she said.

The convention is set to draw a host of eminent personalities including Senator Bode Olajumoke; former Head of Service in Ondo State, Mr Modupe Omolorun; and Dr King Clay Abisah, former Principal of Idogun High School, now serving as the Traditional Ruler, Nana Kwabena Kuuri II of Ghana.

The event’s Chairman and Chief Launcher, Mr Festus Okun, a retired Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, is also expected to lend significant support to the fundraising efforts.
