The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of four individuals following a violent clash involving suspected cult groups in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed the figure to journalists on Monday in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Nigerian Monitor gathered that among the victims was Fisayo Oladipo, a prominent youth leader and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area.

Mr Oladipo, aged 52 and fondly called “Fissy,” was reportedly trailed to his residence in the Ehin-Ogbe area of Owo by suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity.

He was shot in the chest around 2:00 a.m. on Monday after returning from a nightclub.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the killing of Mr Oladipo sparked chaos, with sporadic gunshots resonating across parts of the town.

His remains were later deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) morgue in Owo.

Tragically, three other victims, including a mother and her child whose identities are yet to be confirmed, were also killed during the attack.

Sources believe the same gang of gunmen was responsible.
