Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has announced a three-day period of mourning and prayers in honour of the late Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi.
The mourning, scheduled from Sunday, 5th January to Tuesday, 7th January 2025, follows the untimely death of the SSG, who passed away on Saturday while receiving treatment in hospital after a car accident.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Akure on Sunday, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the late Oluwatuyi as a man of profound character who lived a life filled with positive impact.
He praised the former SSG’s significant contributions to the governance and politics of Ondo State, noting that the state’s history would not be complete without acknowledging his enduring legacy.
Accompanied by members of the State Executive Council, Governor Aiyedatiwa personally offered his condolences to Oluwatuyi’s widow and other family members.
In a show of solidarity, the Governor also reached out via video call to the late SSG’s children residing abroad.
“Hon Tayo Oluwatuyi was a recurring figure in the governance of our dear state. His life was one of service, humility, and dedication. He was a complete gentleman who handled public and private matters with decorum,” the Governor said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the bereaved family of the government’s unwavering support during this difficult period, while also praying for the repose of Oluwatuyi’s soul.
In the condolence register, he penned an emotional tribute: “Hon Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks and impacted lives. You have decided to leave us at a time we never expected, but God said it is time to come home. May you have rest in the bosom of your creator, God. Amen.”
A special prayer session, led by Pastor Ayoade Babalola, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Infrastructure, was held for the family, the Akure community, and Ondo State as a whole.
