Panic in Akure: Robbers strike Oke Ogba, steal 3 vehicles amid security lapse

The recent series of robberies in Oke Ogba, Akure, has left the community in distress and raised serious concerns about security in the area.

Over two nights, three vehicles, including two Toyota Camry models, were stolen after armed robbers capitalized on the absence of the community’s security guards.

Nigerian Monitor gathered that the guards reportedly abandoned their posts following a salary dispute with the community’s landlord association.

This lapse in security allowed the robbers to operate unhindered, leaving residents to question whether the guards’ actions were coincidental or deliberate.

The incidents have sparked outrage and fear among the residents, who are already grappling with a history of increasing crime.

The theft of a transformer cable last month and over nine reported robbery and burglary cases in recent months have heightened the community’s vulnerability.

Although the cases have been reported to the Fanibi police station, residents are frustrated by the lack of effective action.

Many are urging the police to intensify their efforts and prevent Oke Ogba from becoming a hub for criminal activities.
