Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, has said that the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms in the solid minerals sector are positioning Nigeria as a global mining hub.

Speaking at the opening of the 2024 Nigeria Mining Week, themed “From Inside Out: Building the Mining Sector to be the Cornerstone of Nigeria’s Economy,” Dr Alake outlined transformative strides aimed at revitalising the mining industry and establishing it as a key driver of Nigeria’s economy.

Dr Alake revealed that the incorporation of the Nigeria Solid Minerals Corporation is nearing completion.

This corporate entity, central to the ministry’s strategy, is designed to serve as Nigeria’s international representative in the mining sector, fostering joint ventures and optimising the potential of legacy brownfield projects.

Describing it as a forthcoming “game-changer,” the Minister said the corporation would enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness in the mining industry.
