Addressing the press in Akure on Sunday, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the election, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the post-election period and preventing any disruptions that could compromise public peace.

DIG Alabi announced the deployment of additional security operatives across the state to monitor and safeguard communities, emphasising that the police and other security agencies remain resolute in averting any post-election incidents.

Tactical teams, he revealed, have been placed on high alert to swiftly address any situation capable of causing unrest, ensuring that peace is sustained in every corner of the state.

Reflecting on the conduct of the election, DIG Alabi commended the professionalism and dedication of police officers, election officials, and stakeholders involved in the process.

He noted that while a few minor incidents were reported during the polls, they were promptly contained, with arrests made where necessary.

These isolated events, he assured, did not detract from the overall peaceful and credible nature of the election.

The DIG also extended his gratitude to the people of Ondo State for their active participation, patience, and respect for the democratic process.

He highlighted the vital role played by voters in strengthening the credibility of the electoral system and fostering the democratic ideals that underpin the nation.

Looking ahead, DIG Alabi reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to upholding democratic principles and fostering a transparent electoral process.

He urged citizens to unite in the spirit of cooperation and to work collectively towards the progress of the state and the nation at large.

“Our strength lies in our ability to unite, regardless of our differences, and to support the democratic process that binds us together,” he stated.

DIG Alabi concluded by conveying the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to all stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the success of the election.

He praised the efforts of election officials, poll workers, security personnel, and the electorate for their collective contribution to a peaceful and credible electoral process.
