The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a stern warning to its personnel deployed for the Ondo State governorship election against engaging in any form of malpractice or unprofessional conduct.
Deputy Commandant General of the NSCDC in charge of operations, Ayuba Philips, declared that any officer found culpable would face dismissal.
Speaking during a press briefing on the corps’ readiness for the election, Philips emphasised the importance of integrity and professionalism in the discharge of duties.
“We want the people to trust us and believe in us, that we shall deliver the best and nothing but the best,” he said.
He warned officers, saying, “Anybody who decides to commit any atrocity is essentially asking to be removed from the system. We will not spare anyone. Once you commit, you know your way is out.”
Philips assured the public of the corps’ full preparedness for the poll, revealing that officers and personnel from outside Ondo State had already been deployed.
He urged voters not to be intimidated by the presence of security agents, stressing that they were there to ensure a peaceful election.
To reinforce security, the NSCDC has deployed 6,000 personnel to maintain order and prevent disruptions during the election.
According to the Deputy Commandant General, this deployment aligns with the directive of Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi, as part of the corps’ commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election.
“This deployment is a demonstration of our determination to provide a secure environment for the electoral process,” Philips added, reiterating the corps’ pledge to support the success of the Ondo State governorship election.
