Lagbaja: Osun govt declares 3-Day mourning

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared a three-day mourning period in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away at the age of 56.

During this period, flags will be flown at half-mast across the state, as a sign of respect and condolence.

In a statement on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, described General Lagbaja’s death as “devastating” and a “colossal loss to humanity and the nation”.

The government expressed sadness over the irreparable loss of one of Osun state’s notable figures and extended condolences to the Lagbaja family of Ilobu, the Olobu of Ilobu, and everyone affected by his demise.

The mourning period begins on Thursday, November 7, 2024, and ends on Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Additionally, Condolence Registers have been opened at the Government House and Governor’s Office for individuals to record their memories and condolences for the late COAS.

Governor Adeleke and the people of Osun pray that God grants General Lagbaja’s soul peace and rest in Aljanna Firdaus.
