Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has appointed Oba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, as the Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo (UNIMED).

This appointment, which takes effect immediately, aims to boost the institution’s growth as Nigeria’s premier medical university.

Oba Kiladejo’s appointment was formally communicated to him in a letter by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, on November 7, 2024.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who serves as the university’s Visitor, congratulated the monarch, expressing confidence that his leadership and vision will elevate the university to new heights.

The governor said, as a trained medical practitioner, Oba Kiladejo’s dedication to medical education and excellence makes him an ideal fit for the role.

His appointment is expected to inspire and motivate the university community.

This development follows Governor Aiyedatiwa’s previous efforts to support UNIMED, including releasing funds for the construction of the Faculty of Pharmacy and pledging continued assistance to the institution.

Under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, Ondo State has prioritized education, with UNIMED being a key focus area.

The university has made significant strides, including producing its first batch of medical doctors trained in Ondo State.

With Oba Kiladejo at the helm as Chancellor, UNIMED is poised for further growth and excellence.
