Independence Day: President Tinubu to address Nigerians tomorrow

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to address the nation on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 7 a.m. in a nationwide broadcast to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

This broadcast is part of the activities lined up to celebrate this significant milestone in Nigeria’s history.

All television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are invited to connect to the Nigerian Television Authority and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria’s network services to air the broadcast.

This will be President Tinubu’s second Independence Day celebration speech since taking office on May 29, 2023.

Nigeria gained independence from Great Britain on October 1, 1960, with Princess Alexandra of Kent presenting the Freedom Charter to the country’s first Prime Minister, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.

Since then, October 1 has been a day for Nigerians to celebrate their freedom and independence.

Last year’s Independence Day speech by President Tinubu highlighted crucial issues, including economic reforms, security, and unity.

This year’s speech is expected to outline the government’s plans and progress in addressing the country’s challenges and promoting national development.

The statement announcing the broadcast was signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga.
