Gov Aiyedatiwa, other notable Nigerians celebrate Chief Sanya Oyinsan at 80

Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has praised veteran broadcaster Chief Sanya Oyinsan as a role model with exceptional leadership qualities.

Aiyedatiwa made these remarks at Oyinsan’s 80th birthday celebration and biography launch, “Born to Pioneer,” held at The Dome in Akure on Thursday.

Aiyedatiwa, represented by Engr. Ade Adetimehin, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, commended Oyinsan’s illustrious 50-year broadcasting career, citing patriotism, professionalism, and adherence to ethics. “Pa Oyinsan led the path for many in the profession,” he added.

In his remarks, Hon. Abiola Makinde, representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency, thanked Oyinsan for his impact on his political growth during the Labour Party era.

“Chief Oyinsan’s life has been one of service, and his mentorship has been instrumental to my growth. His humility and simple life are qualities to emulate,” Makinde said.

Also speaking, Chief Yemi Farounbi, former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines and book reviewer, described the biography as a “must-read” for aspiring journalists.

He said: “This book holds essential teachings for understanding the media landscape and values Oyinsan has upheld throughout his career.”

Chief Ade Ojo, Chairman of Elizade Motors and Elizade University, praised Oyinsan’s exemplary lifestyle and urged him to share his experience with younger journalists.

In his contribution, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, Director General of Radio Nigeria, highlighted Oyinsan’s pioneering role at Radio Nigeria, particularly as Akure’s first General Manager.

The event, chaired by Chief Ojo, featured the book’s public unveiling by Dr. Omololu Adegbenro, Registrar of Elizade University.

The celebration took place on Thursday at The Dome, Igbatoro Road, Akure, marking a significant milestone in Chief Oyinsan’s remarkable career.
