Ondo govt, FG partner to build 1,000 Housing Units

In a bid to address the state’s housing challenges, the Ondo State Government has partnered with the Federal Government to construct 1,000 housing units across the state.

Mr. Akinwumi Sowore, Commissioner for Lands and Housing, made the announcement during a media parley organised by the State Commissioner for Information in Akure on Thursday.

According to Sowore, the partnership aims to improve the lives of citizens by providing affordable housing.

He revealed that his ministry has allocated 100 hectares of land to the Federal Housing Authority in Akure, Ikare, Ore, and Ugbo for the construction project.

The Commissioner also highlighted other achievements of the ministry, including the near completion of the new governor’s lodge, renovation of the deputy governor’s lodge and presidential lodge, acquisition of lands, payment of compensation, resolution of disputes, and management of government lands.

He disclosed that in addition, the ministry has introduced an online title search through barcode technology on 1,825 Certificates of Occupancy (CofO), linked to an e-archive database solution.

Sowore noted that this collaboration between the state and federal governments is expected to bring significant relief to the state’s housing needs and improve the overall well-being of Ondo State residents.

“The construction of the 1,000 housing units is a welcome development for the people of Ondo State, who have been facing housing challenges for years. The partnership between the state and federal governments demonstrates a commitment to addressing the housing needs of citizens and improving their quality of life”, he added.
