ODHA condemns murder of two farmers in Akoko

The Ondo State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, has strongly condemned the recent killings of two farmers in Akoko by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

 

During a parliamentary meeting on August 15, 2024, the lawmakers expressed sympathy for the families of the deceased and called on security agencies to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrators.

 

The Speaker urged the people in the affected areas to remain peaceful and avoid violence, assuring that the government is investigating the matter and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the killers are brought to justice.

 

Hon. Suleiman Murtala, representing Akoko South East Constituency, expressed concern and sadness over the suspected herdsmen’s activities, warning that they may discourage farmers from working if not promptly addressed.

 

The House Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Daodu Oluwatoyin Raymond, representing Akoko South West I Constituency, charged the security apparatus to step up their efforts and restore peace in Akoko. He appealed to the youth to avoid considering reprisal attacks.

 

The lawmakers described the killings as unfortunate and barbaric, assuring that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.
