Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged to increase women’s representation in government and empowerment programmes, reaffirming his commitment to gender inclusivity.
Speaking at a women’s summit organized by the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) in Akure on Tuesday, the Governor praised the Council’s efforts in advancing women’s rights and welfare.
He assured the audience that his administration will prioritize women’s inclusion in government and provide support for their empowerment.
The Governor also addressed the upcoming gubernatorial election, urging women to protect their votes and prevent exploitation by politicians.
He emphasized the importance of a peaceful and fair election.
In her welcome address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, described the Governor as “women-friendly” and dedicated to their welfare and empowerment.
The State President of NCWS, Mrs. Odusola Oluseyi, encouraged women to safeguard their voter cards and vote for Governor Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing that women hold the power to secure his victory.
In their separate speeches, the Special Advisers on Education, Gender, and Women Affairs expressed gratitude to the Governor for promoting inclusiveness and urged for more women appointments in key positions.
The event featured an Award of Excellence presentation to the Governor and special prayers for his continued leadership.
