Osun State leads in Students’ Loan Fund Applications, Says NELFUND Boss

Osogbo, Osun State – Osun State has emerged as the leading state in Nigeria with the highest number of students who have applied for the Education Loan Fund initiated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This was disclosed by the Managing Director of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Sanya Akintunde, during a visit to Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Governor’s office in Osogbo.

 

Akintunde attributed the feat to the commitment of the current administration of Governor Adeleke, who has taken bold steps to address the challenges facing the education sector in the state. He noted that the application portal has been open to all intending students and hinted that the education scheme will put Nigeria on the right footing among other countries in terms of education.

 

Governor Adeleke commended President Tinubu for initiating the scheme, which will afford many poor Nigerians the opportunity to be educated and become better citizens. He also appreciated the recognition of his administration’s efforts by stakeholders and tasked the management of NELFUND to innovate within its mandate to ensure sustainability and avoid debt traps.

 

The event was marked by the presentation of an award of Excellence to Governor Adeleke by the Management of NELFUND.
