Governor Adeleke appoints new Osun Amotekun Corps Chairman, Commander

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has appointed a new Chairman and Commander for the Amotekun Corps, a security outfit established to ensure the safety and security of the state.

Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Wale Abbas, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Amotekun Corps, replacing General Bashir Adewinbi (Rtd), whose tenure expired last month.

Additionally, Hon Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police and former Chief Security Officer to Governor Adeleke, has been appointed as the new Corps Commander.

The appointments, which took immediate effect, were conveyed in letters by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye, on July 3rd.

Retired AIG Abbas brings a wealth of experience to the position, having served in various capacities in the Nigeria Police Force, including as Commissioner of Police in Benue and Delta States.

The Field Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, retired Army Captain Benedict Olusoji Akanni, remains in his position.

The appointments are part of Governor Adeleke’s efforts to enhance the security architecture of the state and ensure the safety of citizens and residents.
