Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has made history by signing a law that increases the number of judges in the state’s judiciary from 24 to 35, a move that enhances the efficiency of the judicial system.
This development, the first of its kind since the state’s creation in 1976, demonstrates the administration’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and ensuring timely access to justice.
In his address during the signing of the law in Akure, the state capital on Thursday, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the efforts of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge, and other stakeholders in making this vision a reality.
He reiterated his administration’s support for the judiciary, including the construction of a new judiciary complex and ongoing training for judges.
The Chief Judge, Justice Olusola Odusola, and the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, also commended the Governor’s commitment to enhancing the judiciary’s efficiency.
This landmark development is expected to reduce the workload of existing judges, tackle the backlog of cases, and ensure faster administration of justice in Ondo State.
