Ondo NUJ demands review of prepaid meters prices

Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), held its monthly congress on June 27, 2024, and issued a communiqué addressing various issues.

The communiqué:

1. Commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for reopening state-owned media outlets (OSRC/Orange FM/Alalaye Radio).

2. Appreciated the installation of streetlights in Akure and urged the government to extend the project to other areas.

3. Criticized the high cost of prepaid meters and requested a review of the prices.

4. Expressed concern about the increasing number of child beggars and urged the government to address the issue.

5. Called on authorities to combat drug abuse and the influx of mentally challenged individuals into the state.

6. Warned against anti-people policies, citing the potential for social unrest.

The communiqué was drafted by a committee consisting of Alaba Aliu, David Fidelis, and Olusegun Hosea, and signed by Olaoluwa Meshack, State Secretary.

The Congress was presided over by the state Chairman of the Union, Prince Leke Adegbite.
