Tragedy struck in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, on Saturday night, when Mr. Seidu Jamiu was brutally murdered in his sleep.
His wife, Omolara Oluwakemi, was said to have reported the incident to the police, but residents suspect her involvement in the crime.
The Nigerian Monitor gathered that Seidu’s alleged infidelity had sparked a heated argument between the couple.
A source revealed that Omolara had accused the deceased of having an affair with another woman, leading to a violent confrontation.
This, the source said might have informed the position of some residents who alleged that Omolara attacked her husband with a pestle, leaving him in a pool of blood.
It was further gathered that community leaders, including the Seriki Musulumi, rushed Seidu to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police were summoned, and Omolara reported the incident, claiming that unknown individuals invaded their home and killed her husband.
However, the police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, in her reaction to the incident, revealed that no arrests have been made, and that investigation is ongoing.
She stated that while Omolara’s involvement is suspected, the police remain cautious, awaiting concrete evidence to determine the true circumstances surrounding Seidu’s tragic demise.
As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a caring husband and father, who was said to have showered his wife with gifts, including a car and a house.
The truth behind Seidu’s murder remains a mystery, leaving behind a trail of grief, suspicion, and unanswered questions.
