President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated three milestone gas infrastructure projects, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to enhancing the business environment and ensuring investment convenience for investors in the energy sector. The projects include the expanded AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline.

Speaking during the virtual inauguration on Wednesday at the State House, President Tinubu assured citizens that his administration is coordinating other landmark projects and initiatives to ensure the earliest realization of gas-fueled prosperity in the country.

He noted that the projects align with the Decade of Gas Initiative and his government’s vision to grow value from the nation’s abundant gas assets while eliminating gas flaring and accelerating industrialization.

The President highlighted the significance of the projects, stating that they will enhance the supply of energy to boost industrial growth and create employment opportunities.

He commended the strategic vision of the NNPC Limited and its partners, Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO) and Seplat Energy Plc, for the laudable and value-adding projects.

According to the President: “Upon becoming fully operational, the two gas processing plants are expected to supply approximately 500MMscf of gas to the domestic market, representing over 25% incremental growth in gas supply. This will provide more gas to the power sector, gas-based industries, and other critical segments of the economy.”

Tinubu reiterated his government’s determination to leverage the nation’s vast gas capacity to drive economic growth.

He mentioned the presidential CNG initiative aimed at moving Nigerians away from petrol and diesel as vehicular combustion fuel and the progress recorded in incentivizing gas development through Presidential Directives.

The President commended the efforts of NNPC Ltd, SEEPCO, and Seplat Energy on the business partnership initiative and congratulated them on the successful implementation of the three projects.

He reaffirmed his government’s resolve to continue supporting the deepening of domestic gas utilization, increasing national power generation capacity, revitalizing industries, and creating multiple job opportunities for economic growth.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key stakeholders in the energy sector. The projects are expected to play a critical role in transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape and driving economic prosperity.
