The All Progressives Congress (APC) Executive Committee of Igbotako Ward II in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has suspended Senator Jimoh Ibrahim from the party with immediate effect.
The decision was made during a meeting on Monday, May 13th, 2024, where members deliberated on various issues affecting the party’s progress and development, including indiscipline and insubordination among some members.
According to the committee: “Senator Jimoh Ibrahim’s actions and activities have violated the party’s constitution, particularly his decision to sue the party and his anti-party activities. Despite the National Party Chairman’s appeal for cooperation and unity, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has continued to disregard party instructions and has openly declared his intent to disrupt the APC before leaving the party.”
The committee recalled that on April 25, 2024, the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, met with all Ondo State governorship aspirants in Abuja, urging them to cooperate with the party’s candidate and incumbent Governor of Ondo State, Honorable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
However, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim proceeded to sue the Governor and APC, and has engaged in anti-party activities by urging his supporters in Igbotako and Ondo State to join the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), claiming he will soon receive the gubernatorial ticket from them.
The statement reads in parts: “The committee has suspended Senator Jimoh Ibrahim in accordance with Article 21, Section A of the APC Constitution, which outlines the procedures for disciplinary action against members who violate the party’s rules and regulations.
“The suspension is effective immediately, and the committee has called on all party members to remain loyal and committed to the APC’s principles and values.”
