Former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi, on Thursday emerged the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the scheduled November 16, 2024 governorship election in the state.
Agboola, who polled 264 votes at the governorship primary of the party held at the Ondo State Culture and Events Centre (DOME), in Akure, clinched the party’s ticket ahead of Akinjo Kolade, who got 157 votes.
Announcing the breakdown of the results, Bayelsa State Deputy Governor who doubles as the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, said Agboola Ajayi scored 264 to emerge the flagbearer of the party.
The Chairman said: “This process started with accreditation of voters, a total of 621 ballot papers were issued, 2 votes were voided and 619 valid votes recorded.
“By virtue of the results we got, Ajayi Agboola, having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner of the primary election and returned elected.”
The total number of accredited voters during the exercise was put at 621, while the total votes cast stood at 619, due to 2 voided votes.
At the end of the exercise, a former Commissioner for Environment during the Olusegun Mimiko administration in Ondo State, Olusola Ebiseni came third with 99 votes.
Other aspirants, Akinwumi Harrison, Akingboye Bamidele, Mafo John and Arebuwa Tubosun got 64, 24, 9 and 2 votes respectively.
