Following the resumption of students for the 3rd Term academic session, Ondo State public school teachers have been advised to put in their best and ensure better academic performance across the 18 local government areas of the state.
This charge was made on Monday by the Administrative Secretary of Ondo State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs Morayo Bayo-Philip, while addressing the Managers and Staff of some public Secondary Schools.
Bayo-Philip who led a monitoring team of the Commission to some public secondary schools in Akure North, Akure South, Idanre and Ondo East local government areas of Ondo State during the resumption of schools in the state on Monday, said considering the huge investment on education by the state government, teachers must ensure there’s positive results.
The Administrative Secretary who was impressed with the punctuality of teachers in the schools during the resumption, however appealed to parents and guardians to always ensure their children or wards get to school on time.
According to her: “I want to advise the parents to ensure their children come to school at the right time. If teachers are in school but some students are not available, there is no way those that are absent will understand what was taught. Parents need to collaborate with schools’ management and teachers to move the state public secondary schools forward.”
According to the report made available to newsmen by the Head of Press, Media and Publicity Unit of the Commission, Goodluck Akinyomi, the Commission has constantly been carrying out its mandate in order to put schools’ managers and staff on their toes and ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
Mrs Bayo-Philip who further advised the teachers to be alive to their teaching responsibilities further charged them to co-operate with their School Principals to do the job expected of them to enhance development in the state education sector.
Her words: “I am here to admonish you to support the Principal of your school with everything you have by doing things right to enhance the standard of education in Ondo State. One day you will be in the position and will need those working with you to co-operate and join hands with you in order to achieve success as no one can do it all alone. You should therefore make things easy for us so as to achieve the desired objectives.”
