Police dismiss Inspector for killing Delta businessman over N100

The Delta State Police Command has dismissed an Inspector, Ubi Ebri, for allegedly killing a 26-year-old man, Onyeka Ibe.

Ibe was shot dead on April 5, 2023, along Ugbolu-Illah Road in Asaba, the Delta State capital for allegedly refusing to give a bribe of N100.

The deceased was said to be a phone seller in the popular Ogbeogonogo Market in the state.

He was said to have been immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, but was confirmed dead on arrival.

Some irate youths paraded the victim’s corpse on the streets of Asaba to register their anger.

Ebri was later identified and arrested by the command.

However, the police in a statement on Tuesday said the suspect has been dismissed.

“Ubi Ebri has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police force and will be charged to court Wednesday, April 19, 2023,” the statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, read.
