Amotekun foils robbery along Akure/Ibadan expressway

…Recovers goods worth millions of Naira

Operatives of the Southwest Security Network, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps in Osun state has reportedly dislodged some gang of armed robbers terrorising motorists along Akure/Ibadan expressway.

This feat was achieved by the Amotekun operatives during a routine surveillance and patrol on the expressway.

The Osun Amotekun, during the operation recovered a Ford J5 wine color with the plate number Kaduna SBG 126XB, loaded with Diesel Engine Oil and goods worth millions of naira.

Our correspondent learnt that the Amotekun Corps got wind of the robbery incident from some motorists plying the route and immediately swung into action and dislodged the armed robbers who later ran into the bush.

Osun State Amotekun Commander, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (rtrd), said his men on a routine patrol along the Akure/Ibadan expressway were alerted to the activities of armed robbers along the road and they swung into action immediately and dislodged the criminals after a gun duel.

He revealed that the robbers, whose number could not easily be ascertained, ran into the bush after a fierce gun battle.

According to him: “We have reached out to the owner of the recovered items and the driver through the waybills and the vehicle and the items will be handed over to them”.

Adewinmbi also revealed that the operatives are working day and night to send criminals out of the state.
