The Catholic Diocese of Ekiti has reacted officially to Saturday’s abduction of Rev. Fr. Michael Olubunmi Olofinlade, saying his abductors are yet to contact the Bishop or any other person in the Diocese
A statement by the Director of Social Communications, Rev. Fr. Anthony Ijasan, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Most Reverend Felix Ajakaye, has called on the church to continue to pray for the victim.
The statement reads:” While waiting for the abductors to make contact with the Diocese, the Bishop solicits prayers for the quick and safe release of father Olofinlade.
Rev. Fr Michael Olubunmi Olofinlade, Priest of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, was abducted on Saturday, 14 January, 2023.
He is the Parish Priest of St. George Catholic Church, Omu-Ekiti, in Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State
It was gathered that Fr. Olofinlade went for a pastoral assignment outside the parish, and was abducted between Itaji and Ijelu Ekiti, in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State, about 4km to his parish headquarters
