An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, has ordered the state House of Assembly to reinstate Mr Iroju Ogundeji, as the Deputy Speaker.
The leadership of the House had in 2020 removed Ogundeji as deputy speaker of the Assembly under controversial circumstances, as a result of his objection to the plan of some lawmakers to impeach the then Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, who was having a running battle with the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
After his removal, the Assembly later appointed Mr Samuel Aderoboye as the deputy speaker. The latter was still occupying the position until the court judgment on Wednesday.
The lawmaker had approached the law court to challenge his removal, which he described as unconstitutional.
Delivering judgment on the matter, Justice Adetan Osadebe, dismissed the removal of the plaintiff and nullified the action of the Assembly, describing it as illegal.
